Details
Corbett: Stob fear-tomhais (otherwise known as Beinn Stacach), Balquidder (771m) from Glen Buckie, grade B+ at an easy pace
14 km, ascent 675m, 5-6h
Meet at car park behind Dreadnought Hotel, Callander 0900 to give a good chance of getting parking spaces at start of walk (around 0945).
Organiser: Paul Harrison
There is very little parking space at the start of the walk so please meet at the main car park behind the Dreadnought Hotel from where we will take the minimum of cars to the walk start point
This is quite a long and fairly tough walk.
There is a pleasant walk in with attractive views and then a fairly steep climb up the shoulder of the subsidiary 684m top, then an easier 1km walk over that top to the Corbett before a final steeper climb to the summit.
The route is described here:
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/beinn-stacath.shtml
There are brilliant extensive views in all directions from the summit ridge.
Note: the walk involves a ford crossing over a main burn at the end of the walk in so bring your gaiters or wet shoes just in case! If the burn is in spate after very heavy rain there is a bridge 1km upstream if necessary.
Note:
Attendees at all club walks are reminded that they should abide by club’s code of conduct and safety guidelines.
These can be viewed under “membership documents ” here: https://www.glasgowhfoutdoorclub.co.uk
