DOON HILL (82m) and FAIRY KNOWE circular, Aberfoyle, Grade C+

Ascent 350m, 10 km, 3h30

The mystical Doon Hill is reputed home of the faerie folk so come prepared. Legend has it that the fairies, fed up with the local minister writing a book about their activities, kidnapped him and encased his soul in the pine tree on top of the hill. The undulating route on tracks and paths passes through beautiful native woodland, open countryside and riverside, with a few steeper sections.
