this is a short, easy walk starting at helensburgh central railway station 10.30, walking up through helensburgh to the hill above (tom na h-airidh 354m) and then down through highlandmans wood, ardencaple farm to cairndhu point. the day ends with a walk along the esplanade no doubt joining the tourists for an ice- cream or whatever.

a suitable train leaves queen street, glasgow at 09.30, calls at all stations (including hyndland, where ill join it, at 09.39) arriving helensburgh at 10.14. its a half hour service.

i'd advise everyone wear boots, waterproofs, warmlayer, hat, gloves have sunglasses, sun lotion, lunch and fluids.
