Corbett: Meall an t-Seallaidh (791m), grade B+, from Balquidder

Ascent 860m, 11 km, 6-7h
Depart: Balquidder village hall (parking donation) 1000
Organiser: Paul Harrison

This fairly strenuous walk ascends Kirkton Glen on a good easy track and then climbs up and traverses the grassy undulating ridge from Meall an Fhiodhain round to the summit of Meall an t-Seallaidh. The route offers great views all round across the ridge.

This long circular route starts by talking the track up Kirkton Glen, then climbs up steeply over rough ground to close to the 789m top and then across easier undulating terrain with 100 m ups and downs over the ridge to Meall an Fhiodhain (817m), Cam Creag (812m) and finally the summit of Meall an t-Seallaidh (852m).

The descent is over the more or less south from the summit over rough grassy slopes and then pretty steeply down to the grassy woody knoll of Creag an Tuirc, the ancient rallying place of Clan MacLaren which gives superb views over both the village and along Loch Voil.
