Leadership Skills Training Day
A hill day focused on Leadership Skills, for prospective Glasgow HF walk organisers.
This will be carried out by Alastair Ewen of Aspen Outdoors.

The cost of this event is normally £85 but the club are subsidising it to £42.50 for 6 prospective organisers who sign up.

Meet up at Aberfoyle at 9:30 am at MacGregors cafe (opposite the coop), 55 Main St, Aberfoyle, Stirling FK8 3UG. Day to finish at 4:30pm.

The day will cover:
Planning - considering weather; avalanche forecast; terrain; and personal and group capability; all leading to the development of a plan A, and plan B! Is the level of challenge right for you and your group?

• General preparation: what to bring, maps, kit lists.
• Leader Communication: before event, morning briefing; and during event.
• Decision making (management, adaption, foreshortening, abandonment)
• Monitoring your group, making observations of your group’s health and wellbeing, emotions, technical ability, physical capability.
• Risk and hazard awareness: do you have the capability to perceive the risks and hazards!
• Emergency procedures.
• Group Management (inc positioning):
• Controlling the route
• Controlling pace
• Managing hazards

The day will begin in the cafe, covering some theory and useful resources.
