6km walk
A little scramble - not quite Grade 1
Footpaths, loose and rocky ground, tarmac, railway tunnel
Xmas market
Optional ceilidh at St Brides Centre

A circular walk in Edinburgh, ending with some time spent at the Xmas market. For those with the legs, the evening can continue with the Scots Music Group's ceilidh at St Brides.

The walk starts at Holyrood carpark, then proceeds up Arthur's Seat via its secret little scramble, the Gutted Haddock. There is little exposure, it is short and not really technical. However, you will need the right footwear and can expect some loose surfaces.

Thereupon we descend to Duddingston village, where a stop can be made at the Sheep's Head, the late Queen's local pub in Edinburgh. The return to the start is via the Innocent path and railway tunnel. The idea is then to move onto the Christmas Market in Princess Street Gardens.

For those with the stamina, there is a ceilidh in the West End at 7.30pm put on by the Scots Music Group at St Brides Centre. First rate band (Matthew Maclennan Dance Band) and a venue with a sprung floor and plenty of space. Entry is 10-12 quid online from the link below. and a bit more at the door:

This is a 10 minute walk from Haymarket station, where trains and X900 coaches return to Glasgow. It is also possible to find parking near the venue in the evening.
