We ascend the SW ridge of Hart Fell to the summit, then descend E and up onto Whitehope Knowe and over the undulating ridge to the top of the ‘Devil’s Beeftub’ (you will see why it is called that when you get there!). Vertigo sufferers may find the initial part of the descent to Gorehead crossing the steep hillside a bit scary but then there is a pleasant walk down the valley to Ericstane.

Please post a note if you can offer or require a lift.
