Aviemore W/E - Bynack More - Easy Pace
Details
Approx 19 km, 7-9 hrs.
We will meet at the YH ready to leave at 8:30am. Parking at Glenmore lodge (it can be busy and this is a holiday weekend). Starting in Glenmore, the route begins on well-maintained forestry tracks, passing An Lochan Uaine (the Green Lochan). The path then climbs steadily across open moorland, crossing the River Nethy before leaving the bridle tracks and tackling the steeper northern ridge of Bynack More (1090m). The summit plateau is a highlight, featuring the massive granite tors known as the "Barns of Bynack," which look like stone fortresses against the skyline. On a clear day, the views stretch across the Cairngorm plateau and north towards the Moray Firth.
