Great Shunner Fell is the third highest summit in the Yorkshire Dales and is a fine moorland peak. The walk starts at the hostel and follows the Pennine Way through Hawes before heading for Hardraw, with its renowned waterfall. Much of the path has been flagged and there is a fine shelter at the summit. From here, the walk descends south-east by a fence and wall which leads to Butter Tubs, a group of limestone potholes. Depending on the conditions and the party, we could then ascend Lovely Seat before heading south to the Buttertubs road and High Shaw.

All participants must be appropriately fit and must have suitable gear i.e. waterproof jacket and trousers, walking boots, warm layer, hat, gloves, food and drink.
