Beinn Dubh Horseshoe, grade B+

Ascent: 2380ft/725m
Distance : 7.2mi/11.6km
Approx. 6 hours

This is a circular walk which we will do in a clockwise direction, starting at the main carpark in Luss.

Once we're over the footbridge, we walk for about an hour up a country lane with a gentle incline. We then have a steep climb up a grassy path for another hour before walking around the undulating horseshoe to the summit of Beinn Dubh. There is a long descent back into Luss.

The ascent and descent, although on a grassy path, are steep and eroded in parts. Some areas on the plateau
can be quite wet. On a clear day, there are 360 degrees of fabulous views.

The carpark at Luss costs £1 an hour. I would estimate 6 hours (or 7 to be stress-free). Toilets there cost 50p; there are no other toilets en route. There is an opportunity to go to a cafe in Luss at the end of the walk.

All participants must be appropriately fit and have suitable gear i.e. waterproof jacket and trousers, walking boots, warm layer, hat, gloves, food and drink.

Climbing, hillwalking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and benefit responsible for their own actions and involvement.

Car share at the driver's discretion. Both driver and passenger may communicate via the website to organise.

Attendees at all club walks are reminded that they should abide by the club's code of conduct and safety guidelines. These can be viewed under "membership documents": https://www.glasgowhfoutdoorclub.co.uk
