Details

In this talk, Tracey Jolliffe, aka @The_BatNurse will look at the history of Zombies and Vampires in popular folklore, and discuss some of the common infectious diseases that may have given rise to the myths and legends.

Tracey is a Biomedical Scientist working in an NHS microbiology laboratory, diagnosing viral and bacterial infections. A former veterinary nurse, she has a keen interest in zoonotic and anthropogenic infections. Outside of her work she is involved in various aspects of bat conservation, particularly the care of sick and injured bats, and holds a bat roost visitors licence from NatureScot. She is also an ambassador for the charity “Give A Kidney”, promoting altruistic kidney donation.

We will meet at Garnethill Multicultural Centre, 21 Rose Street, Glasgow G3 6RE. It's just up from the GFT (Glasgow Film Theatre) on the opposite side. The meeting room is the first door on the left.

Doors open at 1pm for a 1.30pm prompt start.

Whether you are a member of Humanist Society Scotland or not, anyone who shares our vision and values is very welcome. Participation is free.
