🌊 Join Us for a Fun-Filled Day Trip to Millport! 🚴♀️☕🌿
Ready for some sea air, scenic views, and great company? Come along on a relaxing and adventurous day trip to the charming island town of Millport, just off the coast of North Ayrshire. It’s the perfect wee getaway from the city — think colourful cottages, coastal paths, cute cafés, and seals if we’re lucky!
🕘 Meet at Glasgow Central to get the 09:45 train– we'll hop on the train to Largs, arriving at 10:48. From there, it’s just a short 4-minute walk to the ferry terminal to catch the 11:15 ferry to the Isle of Cumbrae. The ferry ride is only 10 minutes (£2.20 each way – pay on the day), and once we arrive, we’ll jump on a quick 12-minute bus into the town of Millport, ready to start our adventure by around 12 noon.
🚶♀️ Explore Your Way: Walk or Cycle!
You can choose between two lovely options for seeing the island:
The Scenic Walk:
Take a gorgeous 2 to 2.5 hour coastal walk from Millport to Fintry Bay and back, with peaceful views and plenty of photo spots along the way. Here's the route for inspiration:

Cycle the Island:
Hire a bike (around £12 for a standard bike) and cycle the full loop of the island – it's just under 11 miles and takes about 2 hours at a relaxed pace. The route is flat and scenic, perfect for beginners and casual cyclists.
☕ Let’s Catch Up Over Food & Views
After our walk or cycle, we’ll all regroup in Millport for some well-deserved lunch, coffee, or maybe even an ice cream by the sea. There are lots of cute places to choose from, and we’ll take our time to enjoy the relaxed island vibe before heading back.
🚆 Getting Home:
We’ll catch the ferry back to Largs (they run every 30 mins), then the train back to Glasgow – arriving late afternoon/early evening.
🧾 Approx. Costs:
Train: ~£12 return
Ferry: £4.40 return (pay on the day)
Bike hire (if cycling): ~£12
