In Glasgow, a “Sub Crawl” is a well-known tradition.

The idea is simple: you travel around the circle of the Glasgow Subway, stopping at each station to visit a nearby pub before moving on to the next stop.

Traditionally, this means visiting many pubs in a single evening. It can be lively, chaotic, and fast-paced.

✋ This series takes a different approach.

Instead of rushing through the entire subway line in one night, we slow things down and explore one stop at a time. Each event in the Slow Sub Crawl takes place in a pub or bar located near a different subway station. We spend the evening there, enjoying relaxed conversation and getting to know each other while discovering the neighbourhoods around the subway circle.

👉 For the second stop in the series, we will meet at The Scallion, a lively neighbourhood pub just a short walk from St George’s Cross station in the West End.

The Scallion has become a local favourite thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, good selection of craft beers, and stone-baked pizzas. The pub also hosts regular entertainment throughout the week, including quiz nights and live music.

With its relaxed and friendly vibe, it’s a great place to continue the Slow Sub Crawl, meet new people, and spend the evening chatting while discovering another neighbourhood along the subway line.

🚇 The Scallion is about 5 minutes from St George’s Cross subway station.
🚂 If you’re travelling by train, it’s about a 15-minute walk from Charing Cross railway station.
🚌 Buses 4, 6, 6A, 60 and 61 stop nearby.

When arriving in a new country it is very helpful and fun to meet people who are in the same situation as you, we too have been puzzled by the Scottish patter at first and it took some time to adjust to the rainy weather ☔️

Come to meet new people and discover this vibrant city together 😃

See you soon👋
