What we’re about
Welcome! We are moving to Substack so please head over there for updates and our mailing list! The Glasgow Writers Group has been running for quite a few years now as a space for writers to meet and have their work critiqued by their peers.
At the onset of the covid pandemic, we moved online to a meeting once every 2 weeks on Thursdays. You're welcome to attend from wherever you are! But don't worry, in-person meetings will return in 2025!
The atmosphere is casual and friendly while also giving helpful and critical feedback. Members can submit their writing (per submission guidelines linked below) and in our meetings our other members offer their constructive critiques. Writers of all levels of experience are welcome!
We ask new members to attend one meeting before submitting work so that they can see one session in action and decide if it's right for them. Anyone is welcome to come along and observe or give feedback to the writers.
See the full submission guidelines on our aforementioned Substack!
Writers can submit their work to us for a meeting by e-mail, until 23:59 on the Saturdays before Thursday meetings (meetings on other days subject to different submission deadlines). We send out each submission via our Meetup mailing list on Sunday to allow you to read them ahead of time, and to then present your critique to the author at the meeting.
The group holds a wide variety of writers at every level of experience and we all bring something different to the table.
