AI agents workshop

Details

Do you talk to your documents?

If not, maybe you should. If yes, perhaps you'd like to do it better?

We'll come together for a beginner-friendly workshop to give a bit of insight into the world of AI agents. To do this, we'll do nothing less than implement a full-blown solution to ingest PDF documents into a vector database, query them using natural language, and discuss them with an LLM – all within an hour! We'll use ollama with nomic-embed-text, orca-mini, and open-webui – and if you've never heard of either, it's not a problem.

All you need is...

  1. Basic Python knowledge (or you can copy-paste from others)
  2. Laptop with a working Python development environment and a few dependencies installed (you'll receive detailed setup instructions a week before the event)

But why?

It would be much easier to achieve a similar end result by using ChatGPT (if you are a subscriber). But by coding this solution yourself and running it entirely on your own machine, you'll be able to debug the code to see what's happening behind the scenes, then take it home and expand it to fit any project of your choosing. This way, you could potentially solve specialized problems that you could never tackle with ChatGPT.
