We are delighted to tell you about this course, taught by Allan Rohlfs, who has 45 years teaching NVC. Here is his description of the course:
Nonviolent Communication:
When another person's behavior offends you.

When another's behavior offends you, whether it is a political position, someone’s behavior at work, with one’s family member, etc. is there a way to respond other than silently enduring and seething or speaking out of anger? What if you ask politely for a change and nothing happens? Then how can you respond?

Generally we don’t know what to do. In vogue during the current political climate is to accuse. But we know this, although releasing some energy, effects no useful change. Rather it almost always alienates and evokes defensiveness.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) teaches specific behaviors for addressing another’s objectionable behavior without any blame, judgment or criticism yet with 100% honesty. Even more, NVC teaches a way to transform one’s internal images of the other as enemy and thereby changes one’s inner turmoil. And to receive another’s offensive language without taking it personally.

Developed by US psychologist Marshall Rosenberg when mediating school desegregation disputes in the late 1960s in the South, NVC will be taught in a 6 session weekly class beginning Tues, Feb. 19 from 7:30-9:30

This is a hands on course with everyone working with their own personal situations. Both the mindset of NVC and the specific skills will be presented, demonstrated and then ways devised for each person to apply them to their own situations, step by step. Much discussion and practice.

Class limited to 14. Fee is whatever you wish to give. (In the past I’ve requested $180 per person if you do not want to struggle with “whatever you wish to give.”)
