The UK’s national security is under severe threat from the climate crisis and the looming collapse of vital natural ecosystems, with food shortages and economic disaster potentially just years away, a powerful report by the UK’s intelligence chiefs has warned.
The climate crisis creates a growing food security problem that could result in civil unrest and instability, geopolitical conflict, the weaponization of food, migration pressures and the rise of extremism.

### In this Forum we will discuss this and also look at local initiatives that have been formed to tackle the food crisis

Our Speakers are,
Ffinlo Costain. founded the Food & Global Security Network in 2020 and published Soil Health: A security threat profile, prior to COP26. ffinlo has presented at the European Parliament and advised ministers and senior leadership teams in many European countries.

Shiri Shalmy is a founder and co-director of Cooperation Town, a workers cooperative coordinating a movement of over 50 self-organised community food co-ops across the country. Cooperation Town currently directly employs 10 staff and supports two regional organisers.

Wendy Alcock is founder of a much admired local initiative to encourage home cultivation in gardens and on unused land. This is Barnet’s Incredible Edible campaign. Wendy is also a Food growing advocate at haveagrow and trustee for Citizens Advice Barnet.
