About us

📘 Gloucester Book Club —
We’re a friendly reading group for adults aged 20 and over. We mainly read contemporary fiction, with two non‑fiction books each year for variety. All titles are chosen in advance and the full schedule is listed here on Meetup.

🌟 Free Trial
New members can attend one meeting for free. We run several meetings each month discussing the same book, so there’s plenty of choice. If you haven’t attended within six weeks of joining, we’ll assume the timing isn’t right and remove you from the membership list — you’re always welcome to rejoin later.

💷 Membership
Annual membership is £20 (September–August). If you join partway through the year, your fee is pro‑rated to August. Subs become due after your free meeting or when your six‑week trial ends.

📅 Meetings
We offer multiple meeting dates each month, including one online, to give everyone flexibility. You’re welcome even if you haven’t finished the book — the aim is enjoyment, not homework.

Stay connected
We have a closed Facebook group for members to chat between meetings, share thoughts, and keep up with club news.
You can also follow us on Instagram for updates, book picks, and behind‑the‑scenes glimpses of club life.

🎙️Our podcast: Books & Chat
We also host the Books & Chat podcast, where we share book recommendations, member conversations, and Bitesize Book Bites. You’ll find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms.

🎬As well as reading, we often organise cinema outings to a local cinema and ☕️coffee and chat meet-ups.

A bit of history
Founded in 2013, Gloucester Book Club has grown into a warm, supportive community of readers who enjoy thoughtful conversation, good books, and a friendly atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a relaxed, welcoming book group with flexible meeting options, we’d love to have you join us.
