Our trip begins early Sunday morning (Sept. 1st) at 7 a.m. when each hiker drops off (up to) 45 lbs. of gear at the Cottonwood Pack Station. From the pack station (10,069’), we (with a daypack on our backs) will hike 5.3 miles with a total of 1,200’ of gain to our base camp by [Cottonwood Lake #3](https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=13.7/-118.2264/36.4959&layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet) (11,130’) where we will select sites for our tents and set up tarps for protection from sun and rain.

We will have four full days to hike, photo, fish or relax in camp. This area has numerous alpine lakes to explore and many majestic peaks and wildflowers for our viewing pleasure. Possible day hiking destinations include a dozen lakes and two major passes. A basic kitchen with a two-burner stove and kettles will be provided (hot water available for the making morn till night) for you to prepare your own breakfasts and lunches. Group dinners are included but prepared with assistance from participants. Gravity water filtration will also be available for the whole group; therefore, no need to bring any filtration devices.

On Friday morning (Sept. 6th), the wranglers will return to pick up our gear while we hike out.

**Currently there are a couple of openings for this trip and a wait list can be created as well.**

**All participants are requested to stay at a motel in Lone Pine (motel expense not included in trip cost) on Saturday night (Aug. 31st) because of the next day’s early meet-up time and for last minute trip updates. Cost is $550 and does not include cost of motel room on Aug. 31st.**

**Cancellation policy:** Refunds will be given only if acceptable replacements are found. Hikers can recommend replacements who must be approved by the trip leaders.

Updates will contain participant list, to help participants arrange carpools.

*You are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. You are welcome to wear a mask if it makes you comfortable. Please stay home if you are sick or experiencing any COVID symptoms.*

*The form is not required to apply but will be required at the time of the trip. If you have any medical issues the leaders should know about, pertinent medical information about yourself (emergency contact, allergies, medications, and general medical history) can be provided in a confidential medical form that will be available from the hike leader and at the trailhead. Your completed medical form will be kept secure and private by the outings leader and will be referred to in the event of an incident or passed along to emergency responders.*
