(MS) Long Creek - Opossum Creek Falls


Details
Hikers meet the leader at Hardees in Westminster at 9:45am to convoy.
Group will caravan to the trailhead in Long Creek. The trail is an in and out to the beach at Opossum Pool on the Chattooga. Heading up Opossum Creek we will see a magnificent waterfall. Back at the beach, we will have lunch and take time to swim.

ATTENTION: All club hikes must observe specified guidelines, including a maximum of 15 hikers (allowed number is the hike leader's discretion), no shuttle hikes, six feet separation among attendees and between other hikers, carpools discouraged, masks suggested but not mandated (not during the hike as much as gathering times and if needed in public restrooms), etc.
COVID-19 Notice (beginning 10/01/21):
To promote the safety of GNHA members and guests, we will follow this Public Health Guidance:
- Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms are excluded from hikes while sick.
- Individuals with a positive COVID-19 test, or have experienced COVID-19 symptoms, cannot return to Club hikes until it has been 14 days since they first had symptoms AND they have not had a fever for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication) AND their other symptoms have improved.
- Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 (but, did not have symptoms) cannot return to hikes until it has been 14 days since their first positive test, AND they continue to have no symptoms since that test.
- Individuals who have been in “close contact” (within 6 ft. for more than 15 minutes) with a sick person, should isolate and not return to Club hikes for at least 14 days after the last contact.
Details
Each hiker should arrive at the trailhead at specified time, with water, lunch, snacks, hat, hiking boots, sunscreen, camera, etc. See "Lets Hike" at https://www.greenvillehiking.com for more details on what to expect.
Carpooling will continue to not be standard, however if the leader chooses to make exceptions and or a hike requires a short shuttle, it needs to be clear in the write up what attendees need to know. If carpooling/shuttling is planned, please have the drivers decided ahead and find out requirements for those riding in their vehicle (vaxxed only, wearing masks, windows open, etc.)
