(VVSS) Max Patch to Hot Springs
Details
PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE DETAILS OF THIS HIKE BEFORE COMMITTING. THERE IS A $50 SHUTTLE FEE AND YOU WILL LIKELY NEED TO STAY IN HOT SPRINGS FRIDAY NIGHT.
Back in the day, our club regularly did challenge hikes. Consider this one of those.
We'll be hiking a 20-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail in a single day. The hike will start with the incredible 360-degree views from Max Patch before descending into the Green Tunnel for the long grind to Hot Springs. Given the distance and expected breaks, we anticipate being on our feet for about 10 hours. Sound like fun?
Here's a few key points to consider before committing:
- We have arranged a shuttle service to take us from the AT trailhead in Hot Springs to Max Patch. We're aiming to start this hike at 7 a.m. to ensure as much daylight as possible. That means meeting the shuttle in Hot Springs around 6 a.m.
- The shuttle fee is $50 per person. Shuttle limits us to 10 hikers.
- For those not near Hot Springs, we highly recommend staying the night near by. We can provide recommendations.
If you're in, join us. Given the strenuous nature of this hike, you'll need clearance from one of the hike leaders. We just want to ensure you're up for this endurance hike for the safety of everyone.
