(VS) Ramsey Cascades - Fall Campout Hike

Hike Description
Join us for a hike through the largest section of old-growth forest in the Great Smokies with a stop at the park's tallest waterfall.

Ramsey Cascades is a 100-foot high cascade coming down a craggy-faced ledge, a great spot to relax midway through a hike and have lunch. The hike is in-and-out along the Ramsey Cascades Trail from the Greenbrier Cove parking area. It's moderately steep and stony on the way with a 2,140 foot gain in elevation.

The trail includes large tuliptrees and hemlocks, including some of the largest right next to the trail.

We will plan to carpool from Cosby Campground to Greenbrier Cove. The shuttle from the campground to parking lot is about 40 minutes. Once we know the number of hikers attending this hike, we'll arrange cars for the trip.

Parking in the Great Smokies requires a $5 parking tag. We will aim to carpool with drivers who have purchased this tag in advance, but hikers on this trip may be asked to get one.
