MS: Crowders Mountain State Park hike
Miles = 6, EG =1,000 feet, Rating = MS
Plan to meet at the Crowders Mountain State Park visitor center NLT 11:00AM so that we can leave promptly at 11:15AM. This is a ~ 6 mile lollipop trail, with ~ 1,000 feet of elevation gain. There is approximately 1.5 miles of steep & strenuous climb on the Rocktop trail that has lots of boulders and roots, I recommend that you wear sturdy hiking shoes. Also you may want to bring your hiking poles if you use them. We will enjoy some nice views at our lunch spot.
This hike should take approximately 3 1/2 hours.
The pace will be a moderate 2.3 to 2.5 mph, although we will slow down considerably as we pass thru the rocky section.
