Escape to the heart of the Peak District National Park for a spectacular day hike along Stanage Edge, one of Britain's most iconic landscapes.
Our adventure begins in the charming, historic village of Hathersage, nestled in the Hope Valley and famously connected to Jane Eyre. Leaving the village, we climb through beautiful, rolling countryside up to the dramatic gritstone escarpment of Stanage Edge. Once on top, sweeping views stretch endlessly across the Dark Peak and the vibrant valleys below.
As we follow the cliff line, we will pass impressive, weathered rock formations popular with climbers from all over the world, offering plenty of opportunities to pause for photos, enjoy a scenic picnic, and take in the massive scale of the landscape.
After traversing the edge, we will descend through peaceful countryside and return to Hathersage. It is the perfect walking route for anyone with a good level of fitness and regular hiking experience who wants to experience the very best of the Peaks in a single day, finishing with a relaxing evening in one of the village's traditional, cosy pubs.

GRADE: Moderate, 17 km, 550m ascent, approximately 5โ€“6 hours (excluding breaks). Route follows well-marked paths across varied terrain, including rocky sections, moorland, uneven ground, and some steep ascents and descents.
