Starting from Manningtree Station π, our scenic walk winds through the lush, rolling hills of the Stour Valley, following the picturesque Edmund Way to the quintessential English village of Dedham π‘, peacefully nestled on the banks of the River Stour.From there, we join the river and meander through wildflower meadows πΌ, soaking in the natural beauty and tranquility of the countryside. Our path leads us to the iconic Flatford Mill π¨ β the beloved home and inspiration behind some of John Constableβs most famous paintings.
Leaving the river behind, we gently climb a country lane with sweeping views across Dedham Vale π, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Finally, we descend back into Manningtree, where you're warmly invited to join us for a relaxing drink π» or a cosy coffee β before catching your train home.

GRADE: Beginner/Intermediate. 17km/10.5 miles 289m total ascent, about 5 hours walking time. Hilly in places, but nothing really steep or strenuous.
Join me for a lovely hike in the countryside of Surrey, where we can take in the beauty of the Surrey Hills. This is a linear scenic hike from Witley Station to the historic market town of Godalming taking us through the picturesque village of Witley and its stunning surroundings.
We'll start from Witley on the sandy Greensand Way and follow the gently undulating ridgeline through ancient woodland. Following the footpath through the National Trust's Winkworth Arboretum, a landscape arboretum reflecting the colours of each changing season we will enter in the beautiful secluded valley in it's colourful glory reflecting off the lake. Winkworth Arboretum was created in the early 20th Century by Dr Wilfrid Fox, a local doctor with a passion for preserving the wooded hillside near his home.
Once out of Winkworth, we will follow the River Wey into the town of Godalming, with its picturesque medieval High Street and Church Street. We finish at a traditional pub, as ususl, where you can join us or take the train back home!COST: Β£10 organiser fee pay on RSVP
MEETING POINT: at 9:10 in Waterloo station, near the ticket office, to catch up the 09:45 train to Witley.
HIKE STARTS: 10:45 at Witley Station. Hike starts shortly after the train arrives.
TRAINS: There is a train from Waterloo at 9:45 that gets to Witley Station at 10:43. This is a linear hike that ends at Godalming station, which is on the same line. Return tickets from Witley cost approx Β£20 (with Network railcard or group save tickets purchased on the day of tge event). You can book train tickets here:

GRADE: Beginner's hike, 11 miles/18km. 4.5 - 5 hours walking time.
A serene walk along the River Thames, in picturesque areas of West London; Richmond, Brentford, Kew, Chiswick, Hammersmith and Putney.
We will begin our adventure in Richmond and start walking riverside near Syon House, a Tudor house, home of the Duke of Northumberland. After passing Kew Bridge we leave river Thames behind us and visit the gardens of Chiswick House, where we can stop for our lunch. There is a CafΓ© in the area.
Chiswick House & Gardens Chiswick House, managed by English Heritage, is a beautiful example of Classical architecture in the style of Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. The Gardens are considered the birthplace of the English Landscape Movement and the inspiration for other great gardens such us Blenheim Palace and Central Park in new York.
After our lunch we reach the river again and conctinue our stroll on the banks of Thames. We start our βpub tourβ. First stop, "Black Lion" in Chiswick followed by other "hidden gem" pubs in Hammersmith and in Putney, our final stop before taking the underground back home!

MEETING TIME: 10:00 outside Richmond station.
TRAINS: This is an oyster-card friendly hike. Trains: either District line tube, overground or Southwestern rail from Waterloo. This is a linear hike- we start at Richmond, which has a district line tube, overground and train station.
