The West Highland Way is a 155km (96 mile) long hiking route and is named one of the best long distance trails in the world! Stretching from Milngavie (near Glasgow) to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, this is one of Scotland’s official Great Trails and part of the International Appalachian Trail. The scenery is astounding - from the gentle Campsie fells, to the Trossachs National Park and the enormity of Loch Lomond, Glencoe and the classic highlands vistas, to the hulking mass of Ben Nevis to usher us past Fort William.
We will be hiking this in seven days, which is a reasonable pace with just one long day. We will be staying in a mix of private dorms in hostels, microlodges, and campsites. Our bags will be ported to each place at night so we will only have to hike with a light day pack.
The trail is well-served with pubs and cafes on the way, and all the overnights will have hot showers and most will have dry rooms.
If you are keen to finish off your week on the tallest hill in the UK, I will also be tacking on a hike up Ben Nevis at the end.

GRADE: Intermediate. This is not a technical or particularly hard trail, but it is nearly 100 miles long with 3155 m elevation gain over the week. Most days we will be hiking at least 4-7 hours. You must be fairly fit and mentally tough to be able to get up and move every day.
COST: £680 Total. £200 due at sign up via paypal, final payment due 1 June.
COST INCLUDES: 8 nights accommodation, 7 days guided hikes with experienced mountain leader, some meals (see itinerary), train travel between Glasgow and Milingavie, Baggage Transfer fees, Glen Goyne distillery tasting and tour, celebratory dinner on our last night in Fort William.
COST DOES NOT INCLUDE: Transport to and from Glasgow/Fort William, most meals, beverages.
