Intermediate circular hike, 23 km (14.3 miles), with 250m ascent.
Join us for a beautiful walk through woodlands, gentle hills and picturesque villages of this lovely corner of Essex. We'll start out from Audley End station and the village of Wendens Ambo ('both Wendens' after the villages Great and Little Wenden joined) and a farming community that has likely been here since the 6th or 7th century.
We'll head past traditional thatched cottages and farmland and make our way to pretty Arkesden, with more than 30 Grade II listed buildings, and then Chrishall village, the highest point in Essex with views down to Cambridgeshire. We'll join the Icknield Way, one of the oldest thoroughfares in the country before finishing back in Wendens Ambo, where you're welcome to join us for a drink at the pub.
