Kentish Riviera Coastal Hike: Birchington to Whistable

GRADE: Intermediate/ experienced beginners hike, 22km (14 miles). Long linear walk with good paths. Approx 6-7hrs walking time on good paths.

Join me for a lovely coastal walk following a Viking Coastal trail starting from Birchington-on-Sea to Whitstable. We’ll be taking in a variety of seascapes, clifftop paths, colourful beach huts and lively seaside towns along the Kent coast.

Enjoy sea breezes and expansive skies as we hike past Reculver Towers, an atmospheric Roman and Saxon ruin perched dramatically above the sea. We’ll finish our hike in the characterful harbour town of Whitstable, where cobbled lanes, seafood stalls, and harbour views await. A perfect place to unwind with a drink or bite to eat before catching the train home.

MEETING POINT: 08:15 at London Victoria Station, near the main ticket office. Alternatively, you can meet us at Birchington-On-Sea Station at 10:15.

COST: £10 organiser's fee on RSVP. Does not include train tickets - you will need to buy your own train ticket. Group save tickets buy on the day.

TRAINS: London Victoria 08:40 train arriving at Birchington-On-Sea Station at 10:15, journey time 1 hour 35 mins direct. Return train from Whitstable to London Victoria

HIKE STARTS: 10:20 at Birchington-On-Sea Station.

LUNCH: Pack lunch

HIKE FINISHES: Approx 17:30 at Whitstable Station.

WHAT TO BRING: Plenty of snacks, water, suitable clothing, and hiking footwear. We will not be stopping at a shop or a pub so have everything you need for the day.
