Hiking to Polesden Lacey Manor and Denbies Vineyard in stunning Surrey

GRADE: Beginner/ Intermediate hike 18km /12miles, 330m ascent, 5hrs walking time. Undulating walk on good paths through woodland, heathland and meadows.
This North Downs walk takes us through an area of outstanding natural beauty, passing the fine Edwardian Manor house on the Polesden Lacey Estate, hiking through meadows, woodlands, and hidden valleys to Ranmore viewpoint which gives us fine views over the Downs.
North Downs Way is a 153 miles walk running from Farnham in Surrey to Canterbury and the White Cliffs of Dover in Kent. The Trail passes through two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: the Surrey Hills and the Kent Downs.
We will stop for our lunch at Polesden Lacey House, surrounded by elegant gardens in an area with exceptional views.
We hike through the Denbies Wine Estate, the largest in England, where we can stop and have a drink. Denbies Wine Estate has 265 acres of planted vines, making it the largest vineyard in UK. The first vines on their chalky south-facing slopes in the North Downs were planted in 1986. September is the best petiod to visit Denbies vineyard! We will finish in a pub close to Box Hill Westhumble Station before taking our train back home. Feel free to join us!

MEETING TIME: 08:40 London Waterloo Station, in front of the main train ticket office.

COST: £10 organiser fee payable on RSVP.

TRAINS: London Waterloo 09:24 train arriving at Box Hill Westhumble Station 10:11 journey time 47 mins. Alternatively you can meet us outside Box Hill Westhumble Station at 10:11 Return train ticket to Box Hill (save group of three or with Network railcard) costs approx £9.50

HIKE STARTS: 10:15 at Box Hill Westhumble Station

LUNCH: Pack lunch, snacks

HIKE FINISHES: Approx 16:30 at Box Hill Westhumble Station.
