Hiking to Windsor Castle, the Thames path and Magna Carta Monument

Details
GRADE: Beginners hike 18km/11 miles. Approx 5 hrs hiking time on easy paths and park tracks.
This is a lovely and historic circular hike along the Thames to Runnymede meadow. This historic and beautiful spot on the Thames is where King John grudgingly signed the Magna Carta, a document that limited the power of all the future Kings and Queens of England. From here, we will hike a forested hill and make our way to Windsor Great Park. Meandering through the deer park, ancient oak trees and rolling landscape, we'll have quite a view of Windsor Castle as we hike our way down the long walk to Windsor Castle.
Windsor Castle has been home of royals since the 11th century, and the Great Park was the traditional hunting ground that surrounded the castle. On Leaving the castle we pick up the river path again and follow this back to Windsor where you are welcome to join us for a drink before catching the train home.
