Join GO London Hiking for a beautiful day hike exploring the best of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Starting from the historic town of Guildford, we follow the tranquil River Wey path before climbing to a scenic viewpoint and the ruins of an old abbey. From here, we join the Pilgrim’s Way, a historic route offering breathtaking views.
We ascend to St Martha-on-the-Hill, a stunning hilltop church with sweeping views across the Surrey Hills and, on a clear day, as far as the South Downs. After a steady walk through heathland and meadows, we stop for lunch at Newlands Corner, a picturesque spot where Agatha Christie famously staged her disappearance in 1926.
Our return journey takes us down into peaceful woodland valleys, over Pewley Down, with superb views over the day’s route, and along the Pilgrim’s Way back to Guildford. Optional post-hike pub social before returning to London.
