Hiking Effingham and Bookham Commons Sunday Countryside mini-adventure 13.5km

Details

Join GO London Hiking and get your dose of outdoor fitness whilst immersing yourself in the beauty of nature just a short distance, but a world away from London.

This chilled and flat Sunday afternoon hike takes us through the ancient Bookham Commons, mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and the Effingham Common where skylarks breed and nest, and fill the air with their cheerful song-flights which last for up to an hour.

We cross the grassland plains, follow tree-lined paths and pass serene ponds, connect with nature, enjoy the local flora and fauna and spending time with a group of fellow-nature lovers. Lunch will be a picnic on the common land :-).

Towards the end and before heading back to the station to catch our return train to London, we visit the local pub for a well-deserved drink or some yummy ice-cream.
