Thames Trails & Riverside Towns: Maidenhead to Marlow Hike

Starting in Maidenhead, you’ll quickly leave the town behind and join the River Thames, following one of the most attractive stretches of the Thames Path towards Marlow. As you walk beside the river, you’ll pass through a changing landscape of waterside meadows, wooded hills and peaceful riverside communities, with the Thames beside you for much of the journey. Along the way you’ll pass close to Cookham, Cookham Dean and Bourne End, with views towards Winter Hill and the rolling countryside above the river.
Your journey continues upstream as the Thames winds towards Marlow, giving you plenty of classic river views, boats, locks and quiet stretches of countryside along the way. As you approach Marlow, the landscape opens up for a great finish beside the river, with the town’s attractive riverside setting providing the perfect place to round off the hike. Expect a varied and very scenic walk combining Thames-side paths, historic riverside settlements and beautiful Chiltern countryside — all easily accessible by train from London.

MEETING TIME: 10:30 Maidenhead Station outside the main ticket. office(Elizabeth Line/GWR from London)
TICKETS: Direct trains from London Paddington to Maidenhead. Contactless accepted. or Off-Peak Day Return: LONDON TERMINALS → MARLOW.
WALK STARTS: 10:40 at Maidenhead Station
LUNCH: Pack Lunch
WALK FINISHES: Approx 16:00 at Marlow Station. (Contactless accepted)
