From the Goa Shackathon team:
Goa Shackathon is a unique two-day beachside workation event organized by the Goa Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), scheduled for May 21-22, 2026. The initiative transforms iconic beach shacks into temporary innovation hubs to blend tourism with technology, positioning the state as a global destination for remote work and creative collaboration.
The event aims to attract startups, digital nomads, students, and influencers to collaborate on solving real-world challenges in sectors such as TourismTech, AI, Healthcare, and DeepTech. Key features include:
- Hackathon Component: Participants will develop technology-driven solutions for local problems like waste management and tourism functional difficulties.
- Workation Experience: Beyond work sessions, the event includes watersports, sightseeing, and networking to demonstrate Goa’s work-life balance.
- Strategic Vision: IT Minister Rohan Khaunte highlighted the goal of showcasing Goa as a hub where productivity and wellbeing coexist, reinforcing its appeal to digital creators.
While the event is open to a wide range of participants, selection is competitive, with organizers aiming to invite around 200 participants from hundreds of registrations to curated beach locations.
