We will discuss a fabulous business book, the Personal MBA, I came across this book a couple weeks ago and have been studying it ever since. It is basically a condensed MBA program without all the BS. It gives you no nonsense EFFECTIVE business concepts, distilled to their fundamentals.

We will discuss this book and ways we can apply the concepts in it to the organizations we are involved with, or the way we have already done so.

I think this is the perfect book to kick off the Business Meetup group because it summarizes all areas of business giving you many of the best concepts from all the different fields. It will also provide recommendations for books to read to continue our studies if we want to learn more on particular concepts.

The Book is divided into:
Introduction, Value Creation, Marketing, Sales, Value Delivery, Finance, The Human Mind, Working with Yourself, Working with Others, Understanding Systems, Analyzing Systems, Improving Systems.

We will do one chapter each week, starting with Introduction and Value Creation, basically Chapter 1 and maybe part of chapter 2, for the next meetup on 6/05, in the Introduction Josh basically discusses the reasons why going to school to get an MBA is a terrible idea. This is one of the chapters I enjoy the least (although I do think formal schooling is in large part a waste of resources), but it is the beginning of the book, so we will start here. Value Creation discusses the various types of businesses etc. and how they provide value to their consumers.

This book must be purchased because it is not out of copyright. But it is worth it. I bought mine through Audible, so I can listen to it, but you can also buy it on Amazon, etc.
