Birding in North Park

Join birder Cassandra Ziegler and Sierra Club leader Theresa Colecchia for a morning of bird watching at North Park. We will meet at the boathouse and from there take our time walking along the trail around the lake. It's the perfect time to catch warblers and other songbirds flying through during their spring migration! Other birds you might see include ducks, geese, egrets, sandpipers, woodpeckers, and bald eagles. Perfect for beginning birders and experts alike.

The trail is a smooth, paved path, but has a moderate slope in one section. Allegheny County Parks has it included in their list of accessible trails, which means it can accommodate most wheelchairs and strollers. How much walking we do will depend on group interest and consensus, but it will likely be under a mile. Please leave dogs behind, as they can scare off the birds.

We will have a couple pairs of binoculars to share, but feel free to bring your own too - and cameras! There are spots near the lake to set up a tripod for cameras for you photographers too.
