We will explore beautiful Duff Park in Murrysville. Covering 237 acres, Duff Park has been designated as a Wild Plant Sanctuary and an Old Growth Forest. We will hike four miles around the perimeter of the park, and we will try to identify some of the trees in the park as opportunities arise.

This hike would be suitable for people of various ages, for couples, for singles, and for families with children eight years and older. Unfortunately, the trails in Duff Park are not accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. No special skills, physical conditioning, or equipment are required, although participants should be able to walk on trails through the woods for four miles. Please leave canine friends at home (but please consider bringing them back another day!).

Our counter-clockwise route will include the following trails, starting from the parking lot and returning to the parking lot: Trillium Trail, Fernwood Trail, Funk Bikeway, Forbes Trail, Round Top Trail, Bloodroot Trail, Violet Trail. This four-mile route follows the perimeter of the park.
Our conservation topic will be tree identification. Duff Park has been designated a Wild Plant Sanctuary by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. It has also been designated as an Old Growth Forest. Several tree identification signs have been installed along the trail.
