You came all the way for the dotGo conference and will be in Paris on sunday 9th evening ? Feel like meeting the local crowd and other fellow gophers from around the world ? Then join the GIG : gathering of international gophers !

We're inviting gophers to meet and interact directly in an inclusive, non elitist, informal manner, through a series of lightning talks, followed by a time for chats, laughs, demos, non generic thinking and static dancing :>

What's up

• Sébastien Binet (https://github.com/sbinet) is up for talking about language interpreters or medical/high energy physics data acquisition and presentation.

• Karl Matthias (https://twitter.com/relistan), co-author of Docker Up and Running (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920036142.do), will talk about service discovery with New Relic's Sidecar (https://github.com/newrelic/sidecar)

• Edoardo Paolo Scalafiotti (https://github.com/edoardo849) : Go on AWS Lambda (http://docs.aws.amazon.com/lambda/latest/dg/welcome.html)

• Anthony Seure (https://twitter.com/aseure), engineer at Algolia (https://www.algolia.com), will present the challenges of maintaining a golang client.

• Nicolas Grilly (https://github.com/ngrilly) will talk about Austin Clemens (https://github.com/aclements)' patch to reduce some GC latency (https://github.com/spion/hashtable-latencies/issues/13) situations.

• Fatih Arslan (https://github.com/fatih) will demo us the latest on vim-go (http://github.com/fatih/vim-go)

• You : topics are quite open, you could present a go project you worked on, a go project you're fond of, tell a story related to go, focus on a new feature from go 1.7, compare some features with other languages, or something else you think would be of interest : let us know.

The place

We wanted to pick a location that matches the values of open knowledge and open source and it happens such a place exists in the center of Paris : La Paillasse (http://wiki.lapaillasse.org/) have agreed to host our gathering !

La Paillasse is an open shared space where biology and especially biotechnology meet Hacking. They propose several workshops in a DIYbio spirit, where technology is used as a way to introduce the science behind it. They are also a meeting point for members of groups like IA*Lab (http://ialab.net) or OpensourceEcology.org (http://opensourceecology.org).

Membership to this meetup group is not mandatory but it will help you keep in touch with the latest news.
