⭐ TALKS
▪ Stateless Kafka Brokers
Kafka's use of local disks is the key aspect that facilitates performance of this platform, but because it's a data platform designed for self-hosting - managing a cluster is complicated, Kafka is not very elastic and cloud providers charge a hefty price for cross-az networking that's an integral part of running a fault-tolerant Kafka deployment.
Stateless Kafka Brokers are a new category of software that were kicked off by Warpstream in 2023 addressing these downsides, but today more solutions are available - with different architectures and different tradeoffs.
All these solutions propose a more lightweight, cloud native approach to building a data streaming platform.
In this talk I'll compare these different architectural choices, innovations and the cost/performance that has been achieved by the most important solutions in this new software category.
▪ HTMX: Webapps for tired engineers
Tired of the endless churn of JavaScript frameworks, each promising the future but delivering more complexity? You’re not alone. In this talk, I’ll share my frustration with the ever-evolving frontend landscape and why I decided to take a step back. Enter HTMX, a simple yet powerful library that breathes new life into server-side rendering (SSR) by enabling dynamic, interactive experiences without bloated JavaScript bundles.
We’ll explore how HTMX lets you build modern web applications while keeping things lean, fast, and maintainable—leveraging the strengths of the web instead of fighting against them. If you’ve ever wished for a way to make SSR feel exciting again, this talk is for you.
🚀 SPEAKERS
▪ Jan Siekierski
I've been building software for 12 years, many of that building event-driven microservices on JVM (Java, Kotlin).
Now as Kentra, a data streaming focused consulting agency, we're helping organizations improve the way they do data streaming - both on the platform side, and on the way they use it.
▪ Marcin Golenia
Software engineer who builds and scales software with a focus on clarity, simplicity, and real customer value. I've built and shipped apps in F#, C# (.net), Python, Go, JS/TS (node), and multiple databases. I’ve had more jobs than your phone has apps 😅
