9:00am: Introductions

9:30am-10:00am: First talk by Adetoye Anointing

Topic: Building Production-Ready MCP Servers for AI Applications and Agents: How Go and Google ADK Reshape Agentic System Design

Description: Modern AI systems are shifting from simple model interactions to agentic architectures where models rely on external tools, context, and structured execution flows. This talk explores how MCP (Model Context Protocol) enables that shift by turning tool integration into a clean, contract-driven system rather than ad-hoc orchestration logic.

We will break down how production-ready MCP servers are designed, how frameworks like Google ADK consume these tools in agent workflows, and what it takes to move from prototypes to reliable, scalable systems. A key focus will be on the engineering trade-offs involved in building these systems for real-world use.

Finally, I will argue why Go is a strong fit for MCP server implementation—highlighting its concurrency model, static typing, and operational simplicity—and how it compares to common AI backend stacks like Python and TypeScript in production environments.

10:00am-10:30am: Second talk by Caleb Erioluwa Adewole

Topic: Lessons From Building A Distributed File System

Description: In this talk, I'll share what I learned building Hercules, a Go implementation of the Google File System (GFS) design — a master-chunkserver architecture with 64MB chunked storage, configurable replication, a lease-based mutation protocol, an HTTP gateway, and a native Go client SDK. I'll walk through the real engineering decisions and trade-offs involved in designing distributed metadata management, coordinating chunk placement and replication across servers, and building fault tolerance using φ Accrual failure detection over heartbeats. Beyond the architecture, I'll talk candidly about the bugs, design reversals, and "why did I think that would work" moments that came with building a storage system from a research paper — and what they taught me about consistency, failure handling, and building distributed systems in Go.
