Golang Online Meetup - May 2021

Details
Hey GoSGreans,
As we're bracing ourselves for stricter measures in our collective fight against COVID-19, GoSG is back with knowledge at the comfort of our homes. Our awesome line-up for this month:
"The Why of TDD" - Chris James, author of "Learn Go with Tests"
Lots of people practice and talk about TDD but a lot of people seem to gloss over the why of the methodology. What's the point in writing tests first? This talk will give an intro to TDD and then talk about why it's a useful technique
Chris has been writing software for over 15 years. You can find his awesome book here https://quii.gitbook.io/learn-go-with-tests/
"What should we expect from Generics?" - Alexander Stavonin, Senior Software Engineer @ Motional
This talk is about generics, a newly proposed feature for the Go language. Although generics are not yet a part of the standard Go compiler, you can already play with the proposed functionalities. The talk will cover questions such as "Why do we need Generics?", "How can we use generics for improving codebase?" and "How Generics works?".
Alex is a software developer, architect and process engineering expert with 18-years of professional experience. He is advocating best practices in software design, development and testing.
Special shout-out to Google Developers Space Singapore (https://devspace-sg.dev) for bridging our communities and powering the event ππ
