Gold Coast Active and Social Meetup Group

Walking from Nobby’s Beach Surf Life Saving Club we’ll walk south to Miami to enjoy the Oceanway path, up the Rainbow Stairs and down to just past North Burleigh SLSC for our turnaround point. Back up North Burleigh Hill to enjoy sweeping views of the coastline before going down onto Miami beach and returning to our start point for well earned refreshments.
This walk is around 5km on paths with some uneven sections, an uphill / downhill section with stairs and sand (the non-sand option is to return along the path).
We’ll book a table and enjoy social chat and refreshments at the Nobby’s Beach Surf Club afterwards :)
Bring: a $2 donation towards the meetup costs, hat and appropriate footwear. There is access to drinking water at spots along the way.
If you would prefer to donate an amount of $10 to save you remembering your gold coins, that will cover you for all our events until March 2027!!

Please be mindfulful to update your attendance to ‘not going’ as soon as possible if you can no longer join us. This is so we can update bookings and not hold up the group waiting for ‘no shows’.

Join us for a social afternoon of board game fun and laughs at Broadbeach Library meeting room!!
You do not need to bring anything. We will supply a selection of fun modern board games for groups (of course, if you are keen to bring a favourite game, you are welcome to). This is not a children’s event, these are games for adults (or older teens).

We will be in the Broadbeach Library meeting room. This one has a door, so if you’re unsure go to the library desk and ask. The desk also has passes for extended free parking in the car park.

Play synopsis:
The Tempest is a captivating play that blends elements of romance, magic, and political intrigue. It follows the exiled magician Prospero, who uses magic to conjure a storm,
shipwrecking his treacherous brother Antonio, King Alonso, and others on his island, seeking revenge and restoration.
On the island, his daughter Miranda falls in love with Alonso’s son Ferdinand, while a separate plot involves drunken servants conspiring with the monster Caliban. Ultimately, Prospero chooses forgiveness, reunites families, regains his dukedom, and frees his spirit servant Ariel, ending with a plea to the audience to release him from the stage.
This is an engaging story about betrayal, a plot for revenge, incompetence of drunkards, the
enchantment of young love and overarching all – the power of the magic arts…
