# Burleigh Head National Park Walk

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM

Event Description:
Join us for a scenic morning walk through one of Australia's most beautiful coastal national parks, where lush rainforest meets stunning ocean views.

  • Explore iconic Burleigh Headland – Walk along tracks winding through this small but diverse 27-hectare park, home to rainforest, eucalypt forest, pandanus groves, coastal heath, mangroves, and pristine beaches.
  • Complete both trails – We'll tackle the flat, easy Oceanview Track (1.2km, 30 minutes, Grade 2) hugging the coastline just above sea level, then take on the Rainforest Circuit (2.3km, 45 minutes, Grade 3) featuring a steep climb to Tumgun Lookout at 88m elevation for spectacular panoramic views.
  • Breathtaking panoramic views – Enjoy spectacular vistas stretching from Surfers Paradise in the north to Coolangatta in the south, with perfect vantage points for watching surfers and migrating humpback whales (October is prime whale-watching season).
  • Abundant wildlife encounters – Spot brazen bush turkeys, bearded dragons, and diverse native species throughout the protected headland's various habitats.
  • Shaded rest spots – Take advantage of benches strategically placed along both tracks to rest and soak in the stunning coastal scenery.
  • Optional post-walk social – Join us to grab some food from nearby restaurants and explore the beach after the walk.

What to bring: Hat, bottled water, umbrella
Transport: Burleigh Heads is easily accessible from Varsity Lakes Train Station or Broadbeach Tram Station via frequent bus routes. Please plan your trip ahead of time as currently buses replace trains due to track maintenance, with rail replacement buses operating free of charge.
