Miles Goodings & Steve Dalton: Blockchain & Ethereum.js

Steve & Miles will give a casual and practical talk on Blockchain, in particular Ethereum (http://ethereum.org) and the Javascript API (https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/JavaScript-API) you will need to create your very own Dapp!

If this is all gobbledygook to you don't be freaked out - it is to most people anyway. We'll try and cover

• What is blockchain, and how does this relate to Bitcoin

• That is Ethereum and how is it different to Bitcoin

• What is a Smart Contract, DAO, Crowdsale and other lingo in the blockchain community

• Wallets, clients, mining and ETH - the fuel for the World Computer

• Building your first Dapp using ethereum.js

Also - Code Golf Challenge! Winner will get a prize that is actually good. Code Golf is where you try to make it as small as possible - being the Gold Coast JS crew, try it in JS please =P

Free Pizza and drinks 6:30-7pm - meetup officially starts at 7pm - with discussion afterwards and everyone is welcome to stay around and geek out at the TechSpace for as long as they like.

Gold Coast Techspace (http://gctechspace.org) has completed it's move to the Old Post Office in Mudgeeraba and has plenty of space to host meetup groups. The plan is to to encourage what programming meetup groups the Gold Coast has to meet on Wednesday nights in room 1 at the TechSpace. If we have enough - there will be a different meetup every week, a kind of "meetup carnival'!

Other activities happen on Wednesday's too - so it's a good opportunity to meet other groups and share some free food and drink.
