Good times are waiting there. Let's go hike the Burning Bear!

Details

This is a new hike for Weekday Wanderers. It is a usually quiet, out and back, about 4.7 miles with less than 500 ft of climb. Near Guanella Pass, it features well developed creek side and creek crossing trails with canopied pathways and beautiful meadow and foothill views. Expect sun with temps around 80. Maybe even a moose or two, if we're lucky!

Ed Robb will host this hike, so be guided by him.

BRING: Weather appropriate gear. Extra water. Personal emergency info and needs. Snacks for the trail and /or optional after-hike picnic. All are welcome including dogs with well behaved masters on leash.

DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: From Denver, drive southwest on US 285 approximately 40 miles to Grant. Turn right (north) onto Park County 62 (towards Guanella Pass). The Abyss Trailhead is approximately 5.5 miles north on the Guanella Pass Road. You can also use the following Google Plus Code as the destination in Google Maps to navigate to the parking:

G76Q+8PW Bailey, Colorado

There may or may not be porta-pottys at the Abyss parking, however, there is an outhouse at the Three Mile Creek parking about a mile or so before Abyss.

Possible lunch afterwards in Aspen Park.

IMPORTANTLY, AS HIKING INCLUDES INHERENT RISKS, ANY ASSOCIATED PLANNING, COORDINATION, ASSISTANCE, OR ADVICE OFFERED BY ORGANIZERS, HIKE LEADERS, OR FELLOW HIKERS IS ACCEPTED AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF EACH HIKER AND EACH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND PROPERTY.
