Check the park's website for parking fee and suchlike details. Bring an extra plastic bag for muddy shoes. Do not bring pets. I have been planning to use a somewhat haphazard route in Huddart Park since last 10-15 years. Coming weekend is a good time to execute the plan. First cover 2-3 miles of some nature trails between Zwierlein Staging and Kings Mountain Road, and then walk Dean Trail end to end clockwise. Pick up Crystal Springs Trail where Dean Trail ends, and go all the way up to Skyline Blvd and the Fire Station. Return along Chinquapin, but when we reach Dean Trail, we will turn left, and repeat about a mile which we have already done earlier in the day. This time when we reach the end of the Dean Trail, we will take Crystal Springs Trail downwards all the way to the parking lot. Please be prepared to walk 12-13 miles non-stop, and at a decent clip. We may take a brief break at McGarvey Gulch or at the top, but a very brief break only. No slow munching of apples over 15 long minutes, but eat however many as you want while walking.
