Details

We meet at a parking that just before Visitor center. But you still need to stop near Visitor center and pay 10$ entrance fee . This park is popular for camping, but I don't understand why regular hikers need to pay more . At least near our parking there is big bathroom facility.
If you like Redwood parks then you'll definitely enjoy Portola park , plus it is not crowdy place if you leave camping areas.
Majority of hike will be in Redwood forest , so we won't feel heat. So it is comfortable hike even if outside temp will be around 90F.
Our route: Sequoia Nature tr -> Iverson tr -> Trail to Tip Toe fall ( we won't go to this fall, just trail name ) -> Summit trail ( our first 1 mile uphill ) -> Slate Creek tr ( gradual uphill - remote area) -> Bear Creek tr ( steep down) -> Lunch near Peters Creek -> Peters Creek loop -> Bear Creek tr ( now it will steep uphill - 1mile) -> Slate Creek tr ( one more time , no loop options here ) -> Continue Slate Creek tr back to cars
Our pace: 2.5 -2.8 per mile. Hike's length and elevation gain is based on Alltrails route estimate. Real one can be longer 1-2 miles.
It is good to have >2.5L water, sturdy hiking shoes , layers clothes , and lunch food.
It is not good idea to join the hike if you don't plan to complete full route.
Contact me using private meetup messages or comments in case you have questions. I may help with carpool options.
Attendance limit - 12. I may add extra 4 hikers based on hiking points.
Hikers who cancel after RSVP closed will get 'NO SHOW', unless they provide reasonable excuse.
