La Honda , Lonely Forest, 11.5 miles 2300 ft elev. gain

We meet at Sears Ranch Road Parking Area La Honda Creek Preserve.
Long time La Honda Creek Preserve consisted of 2 not connected units: lower and upper. Moreover to reach upper unit you need to hike/drive using private road. Nov 25 2025 MidPeninsula regional Open Space open new trails to connect these 2 units , It will my first time to explore these new trails. Some part of our route will be exposed , but forecast shows low 70s. It shouldn't be hot during hike. Not sure how it will next Sunday, but this place is famous for various spring flowers. Let's check it out.
Our route ( 70% out and back) : Lower Unit: Harring creek tr -> Lonely Forest tr ( connection between 2 units) -> Lone Madrone tr ( our main uphill) -> Coho Vista tr ( crossing boundary with upper unit) -> Upper Unit Vista point ( our lunch point) -> return: Coho Vista tr -> Western Meadow tr -> Lonely Forest tr ( it won't be very lonely with us) -> Harring creek tr back to cars
Our pace: 2.5 -2.8 per mile. Hike's length and elevation gain is based on AllTrails route estimate. Real one can be longer 1-2 miles ( very unlikely for this hike) .
It is good to have >2.0L water, sturdy hiking shoes , layers clothes , and lunch food.
It is not good idea to join the hike if you don't plan to complete full route.
