We meet near Sunol Wilderness Visitor center. There is small parking just near visitor center ( most likely it will be occupied) and large and very long parking from right side of Geary road. Reserve extra 10min walk from parking to visitor center. Carpool is highly recommended although there shouldn't be problems to find parking.
Current forecasts shows perfect weather for this hike ( around 70F) , but if forecast start showing > 80f I'll change route or even hike location.
Maguire Peaks is the most remote part of Sunol ( I don't count Ohlone wilderness) where I still expect to see a lot of wildflowers.
Our hike starts with steep uphill to Flag Hill where must be fantastic panoramic view of Sunol and surrounding wilderness.
Further route: Flaghill road -> High Valley rd -> Welch Creek rd ( private rd) -> Maguire Peaks tr -> Maguire Peaks loop tr -> Maguire Peaks ( our lunch spot) -> RETURN: Maguire Peaks loop tr -> Maguire Peaks tr -> High Valley rd -> Indian Joe Creek back to cars
Our pace: 2.5 -2.8 per mile. Hike's length and elevation gain is based on AllTrails route estimate. Real one can be longer 1-2 miles .
It is good to have >2.5L water, sturdy hiking shoes , layers clothes , and lunch food.
It is not good idea to join the hike if you don't plan to complete full route.
Contact me using private meetup messages or comments in case you have questions. I may help with carpool options.
