Black Rock was described in 1870 by travel guide writer Fitz Ludlow as "Grim and ugly, yet part of a charming scene". In 2021 Black Rock was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

We will ride the I-80 frontage road, passing near the Great Salt Lake Marina. There are a few gas stations that can be used for resupply along the way. We will take a generous break for food and snacks at Black Rock.

The riding pace will be casual. This will be a no drop ride; we will periodically wait and re-group as necessary.

Distance to Black Rock: 17 miles (34 miles roundtrip)
Elevation Gain: Less than 100 feet
Rating: Casual Pace, 12-14 MPH
Bike Type: Road, Gravel, Mountain (any bike that you would like to ride is fine)
Meet Time: 8:00 AM
Start Riding: 8:15 AM
Meeting Place: Empty parking lot located next to the National Weather Service building (2242 W North Temple Salt Lake City, UT).
Fee Area: No (Not unless you enter The Great Salt Lake Marina, $2.00 dollars)
Helmet, patches/tube: Recommended
